The AQUA process consists of identifying a peptide as an internal standard and then measuring the native protein concentration directly from a complex sample. Best results are generated on triple quadruple mass spectrometers, such as those in Thermos Finnigan Quantum family. Once the absolute amount of native peptide is calculated, the absolute starting abundance of protein can be derived.
Four new Heavy Peptide kits are available from the company, including the AQUA demo kit, the AQUA custom kit for absolute protein quantitation, the AQUA discovery kit for technique setup, and a basic kit for relative quantitation.
