The collaboration will allow wearable device users to order clinical tests, schedule appointments, and receive results through the WHOOP mobile application.
WHOOP announced that Quest Diagnostics will serve as the US lab provider for WHOOP Advanced Labs, a new feature that will integrate clinical laboratory testing into the wearable device company’s mobile application.
The partnership will allow WHOOP members to purchase Quest’s clinical laboratory testing, schedule appointments, and receive test results directly through the WHOOP app. The offering is scheduled to launch this fall.
WHOOP members will be able to order lab tests to analyze biomarkers related to metabolism, hormones, inflammation, cardiovascular health, and nutrient status through their WHOOP Advanced Labs subscription. The feature is designed to complement WHOOP’s existing biometric data on recovery, sleep, and training by providing additional health insights that may inform lifestyle changes.
“At WHOOP, we’re committed to empowering our members with a highly comprehensive view into their health and performance,” says John Sullivan, chief marketing officer at WHOOP, in a release. “By bringing Quest’s lab testing into the WHOOP experience, we’re taking a pivotal step forward in helping people access and act on the power of blood testing to reveal insights into health, so they can live and perform closer to their potential for longer.”
The collaboration leverages Quest’s network of approximately 2,000 patient service centers across the US, along with mobile phlebotomy services. A third-party provider will review WHOOP members’ test requests, order tests, deliver results through the app, and provide phone consultations upon request.
“Health-minded consumers want insights from lab testing beyond the annual checkup,” says Richard Adams, senior vice president at Quest Consumer, in a release. “Our collaboration with WHOOP is an example of how Quest is broadening access to deep health and wellness insights.”
Quest has developed a platform specifically designed to integrate laboratory services into consumer health applications, including wearable devices, mobile apps, and websites. The platform aims to make clinical testing more accessible to consumers outside traditional healthcare settings.
WHOOP members can access the types of clinical testing that physicians typically order from Quest Diagnostics for patient care. Members interested in the service can join a waitlist at whoop.com/waitlist.
The Boston-based company offers wearable health and fitness technology with membership-based services that provide feedback on recovery, sleep, training, and health metrics.
