The agreement provides automated billing infrastructure for the cerebrospinal fluid assay platform as test volumes increase.
CNSide Diagnostics, a wholly owned subsidiary of Cerenome, has selected XiFin to provide revenue cycle management and clearinghouse services for the CNSide Cerebrospinal Fluid Assay Platform.
The company expects to begin billing through the XiFin platform during the third quarter of 2026. This launch will include the submission of an accumulated backlog of previously performed CNSide tests along with concurrent case billing.
The XiFin Empower revenue cycle management system provides infrastructure designed for laboratory-developed tests. The platform handles eligibility verification, coding and claims editing, electronic claims submission, clearinghouse connectivity, denials and appeals management, patient billing, and financial reporting. This automated infrastructure is intended to support increased test volumes without a proportional rise in administrative costs.
“XiFin is the recognized market leader in diagnostic revenue cycle management, and its technology and expertise will provide a critical piece of infrastructure as we scale CNSide,” says Andrew Sims, vice president and chief financial officer of Cerenome, in a release. “With our contracted payer coverage now established and growing, XiFin gives us the billing and clearinghouse services to convert testing volume into cash collections.”
The selection of XiFin follows an expansion of contracted commercial and Medicare Advantage coverage for the assay. According to the company, the combination of payer coverage and an automated revenue cycle platform is expected to improve clean claim rates and shorten days sales outstanding.
The CNSide Cerebrospinal Fluid Assay Platform is used for rapid diagnosis, treatment monitoring, and treatment guidance for patients with leptomeningeal metastases. The assay is designed to identify tumor cells that have metastasized to the central nervous system in patients with carcinomas and melanomas.
Since 2020, more than 11,000 CNSide tests have been performed at over 120 US cancer institutions. The test—which recently received a new proprietary billing code—is available exclusively through CNSide Diagnostics, LLC, as a service for health care professionals in the US.
