The transaction adds the HER2DX precision assay to Hologic’s diagnostic oncology offerings alongside the Breast Cancer Index test.
Hologic has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Reveal Genomics, a biotechnology start-up based in Barcelona, Spain, that develops advanced genomic diagnostic tests for personalized cancer care.
The acquisition expands Hologic’s oncology diagnostics menu by adding Reveal Genomics’ portfolio, which includes the HER2DX test designed to optimize therapy selection for patients diagnosed with HER2-positive breast cancer.
Reveal Genomics’ diagnostic tools are designed to complement Hologic’s existing oncology portfolio, which features the Breast Cancer Index (BCI) test. The BCI assay is a guideline-recognized genomic test used to inform clinical decisions regarding extended endocrine therapy in women with HR-positive, early-stage breast cancer.
By pairing BCI with HER2DX, Hologic expects the combined offering to expand its diagnostic oncology solutions and help inform treatment decisions for more women with breast cancer.
“Reveal Genomics’ portfolio is a strong strategic complement to our existing oncology offering within Diagnostic Solutions and would allow us to support even more women diagnosed with breast cancer,” says Vitor Rocha, CEO, Diagnostic Solutions at Hologic, in a release. “This acquisition demonstrates our commitment to innovation and meaningfully expands our ability to inform breast cancer treatment decisions, directly advancing our purpose to enable healthier lives everywhere, every day.”
Advancing Precision Oncology Diagnostics
Reveal Genomics develops diagnostic tools to define therapeutic options for oncology patients by combining biomarker research, computer applications, and machine learning to reveal new cancer research data.
“We founded Reveal Genomics to bring precision oncology closer to patients and improve breast cancer treatment decisions,” says Patricia Villagrasa-Gonzalez, CEO and co-founder of Reveal Genomics, in a release. “Joining Hologic gives us the scale and capabilities to accelerate that mission and reach many more patients worldwide.”
Completion of the transaction remains subject to Spanish regulatory approval, along with other customary closing conditions.
