Advanced Instruments, Norwood, Mass, showcased its new OsmoPro multisample osmometer at the 2017 AACC Annual Scientific Meeting & Clinical Lab Expo.

OsmoPRO is a 20-position, microsample osmometer designed specifically to address the changing needs of today’s busy laboratories, improve efficiency, and reduce sample turnaround time.

Ideal for sample-limited applications, OsmoPro uses a 20 ?L sample size. Samples can be analyzed one at a time or batch processed, depending on workflow demands. OsmoPro uses the industry-preferred freezing point depression method to deliver results in 2 minutes.

The device is able to analyze a variety of complex aqueous mixtures, including blood, biological cell therapies, cell culture media, drug formulations, plasma, serum, stool, and urine. Time-saving features—such as the ability to run tests unattended, automated processing of up to 20 samples, and an intuitive touchscreen—were designed to provide laboratory professionals the ability to manage their time effectively.

“The OsmoPro was designed with a set of usability, connectivity, and software control features consistent with the demands of today’s overworked, highly regulated laboratories,” says Byron Selman, CEO of Advanced Instruments.

OsmoPro’s integrated 2D barcode scanner provides positive sample identification to reduce transcription errors. Data management and transfer can be handled via the onboard printer or by exporting the data using the Ethernet connection or multiple USB ports.

“Our new product represents Advanced Instruments’ commitment to innovation in the field of osmometry, while maintaining the same product quality and reliability,” says Selman. “We have expanded the product’s data management and communication features in response to evolving daily requirements in busy laboratories around the world.”
