Reader’s Choice #4
The Clinitek 50 Urine Chemistry Analyzer and its analytes for microalbumin and hCG assays have been granted CLIA-waived status by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. This benchtop instrument performs automated urinalysis at the point of care.
In addition to the hCG and microalbumin assays, the analyzer has been waived for leukocytes, glucose, bilirubin, ketone, specific gravity, nitrite, pH, protein, urobilinogen and blood tests using the company’s Multistix Reagent Strips for urinalysis.
To use, a reagent strip is dipped and placed on the instrument’s test strip table. The Clinitek 50 then automatically reads the strip and prints the results. Positive readings are designated on the unit’s print-out. It also provides a specimen sequence number for positive patient identification.
