The AmpSure Universal SYBR Green and Probe mixes are built to work with instruments and workflows labs already have.

Thermo Fisher Scientific has introduced the Thermo Scientific AmpSure Universal SYBR Green and Probe Master Mixes. The mixes are designed for everyday applications and for reliable, reproducible quantitative PCR (qPCR) performance. The company is positioning them as a value-priced option for labs balancing performance with budget.

The AmpSure family lets researchers choose the detection chemistry that fits their experiment. The SYBR Green mix supports routine gene expression analysis. The Probe mix supports multiplexing and applications that include gene expression analysis, genotyping, and microbe detection.

Both mixes are compatible with leading qPCR instruments and a wide range of reverse transcriptases, primers, and probes. This allows labs to use the products with their existing instruments and established workflows, according to the company.

Thermo Fisher says the AmpSure family differs from many master mixes that are optimized for specific instruments or workflows. The SYBR Green and Probe mixes are available at the same price per reaction. Labs can therefore select a chemistry based on the experiment rather than cost.

“Academic, government and small biotech researchers need master mixes they can rely on for everyday qPCR, with the flexibility to work across the instruments and assays already in their labs,” says Ferrier Le, senior manager, R&D, Thermo Fisher Scientific, in a release. “AmpSure combines reliable performance and value, helping labs make the most of their research budgets and keep research moving forward without changing their existing workflows.”

The AmpSure master mixes are for research use only and not for use in diagnostic procedures. Pricing and availability are subject to change. More information is available at thermofisher.com/ampsure.
