The HIV-1 Subtype Performance Panel, PRD201 is comprised of cultured HIV-1 virus designed to help researchers, diagnostic manufacturers and clinical laboratories evaluate HIV-1 RNA test systems using characterized samples from various HIV-1clades.
The panel is provided with a comprehensive data sheet containing comparative testing data from major technologies and vendors.
PRD201 consists of a set of eight aliquots of HIV-1 virus from tissue culture representing HIV Group M, Clades A through H. Each virus culture was quantified by electron microscopy and assigned a genotype by sequencing. The cultures were diluted to approximately 50,000 virus particles per mL in defibrinated human plasma negative for HIV-1 RNA. One aliquot of panel diluent is included as a negative control.
The viral isolates used in the preparation of these panels were provided by the National Institutes of Health, the Department of Defense and the European Network for Virological Evaluation of New HIV Therapies as part of a materials transfer agreement with this company to make these reagents commercially available to the research and diagnostic community. The panel is provided for research use only and is not for use in diagnostic procedures.
