AdvaMed has named Charles Fleischman as the inaugural recipient of the AdvaMedDx Lifetime of Leadership & Service Award, recognizing his decades of contributions to the diagnostics industry.
The award was created to honor individuals whose vision and impact have shaped the diagnostics industry and advanced patient care, according to the association.
“We created this award to recognize those whose vision, dedication, and impact have profoundly shaped the diagnostics industry, advanced patient care, and set a standard of leadership for others to follow,” says Scott Whitaker, AdvaMed president and CEO, in a release. “Chuck Fleischman’s name emerged immediately as the ideal inaugural honoree — a testament to his decades of transformative contributions to medtech and diagnostics.”
Fleischman co-founded Digene, now part of Qiagen, where he served as president, CFO, and director. The company played a key role in advancing molecular diagnostics and women’s health screening technologies.
Industry Leadership and Advocacy
Beyond his corporate role, Fleischman served on AdvaMed’s board of directors and executive committee and held the position of treasurer. In these roles, he advocated for diagnostic policy and regulation initiatives that the organization continues to champion.
“His impact is immeasurable—not only as an innovator who helped revolutionize women’s health screening, but as a tireless champion for the entire medtech ecosystem,” says Zach Rothstein, executive director of AdvaMedDx, in a release. “He was one of the earliest and most effective advocates for the sound diagnostic policies that AdvaMedDx champions to this day.”
Fleischman has also held leadership positions with InHealth, TEAMFund Health, St John’s Health, Johns Hopkins University School of Education, and various healthcare and conservation organizations. He has served as a mentor to professionals across the industry.
