bioMérieux emphasized the clinical importance of rapid, accurate diagnostics and accepted seven industry awards during the 2026 Association for Diagnostics & Laboratory Medicine (ADLM) Annual Conference & Clinical Lab Expo.
The company hosted a press panel titled “The Power of Diagnostics: How Delays Impact Patients and Providers” to discuss the effects of delayed or inaccurate results on patients, healthcare providers, and the broader healthcare system. Charles K Cooper, executive vice president and chief medical officer at bioMérieux, moderated the discussion, along with:
- Dr Omai Garner, clinical professor and director of clinical microbiology at UCLA
- Michael Astion, PhD, medical director, regional laboratories and point of care, reference laboratories, and Patient-Centered Laboratory Utilization Guidance Services in the department of laboratories at Seattle Children’s Hospital and professor of laboratory medicine and pathology at University of Washington
- Helaine Bader, MPH vice president of education at HealthyWomen
- Dr John Hurst, senior director of field medical affairs at bioMérieux.
Addressing Diagnostic Delays
Cooper says the panel addressed the pressure healthcare systems face and how access to rapid diagnostics at the point of care can alleviate stress by providing answers to clinicians and patients during the initial visit.
“Delay in getting a diagnosis may result in patients not receiving treatment at all because they may not come back for follow-up,” says Bader in a release. Bader says faster diagnostic times provide immediate answers, build trust between the patient and provider, and reduce patient frustration, potential complications from infections, and the need for repeat visits.
Industry Recognition for Laboratory Systems
During the conference, bioMérieux also accepted seven 2026 IMV ServiceTrak Clinical Laboratory Awards. These awards recognize the company’s commitment to providing diagnostic solutions and customer support to clinical laboratories.
The honors included 2026 ServiceTrak awards for Identification and Antimicrobial Susceptibility Testing (ID/AST) Systems, Blood Culture Systems, and Best System Performance.
“We are thrilled that IMV and the Science and Medicine Group has recognized bioMérieux for the ninth consecutive year for the continued dedication and excellence of our product management, operations, and customer support teams,” says Randy Pritchard, general manager and senior vice president of clinical operations at bioMérieux, in a release.
Pritchard says the recognition across the company’s immunoassay, ID/AST, and blood culture offerings highlights a commitment to diagnostics in the effort to combat sepsis and antimicrobial resistance.
