Ductless Fume Hoods

Rear-lit benchtop hood

The Purair 5 Ductless Fume Hoods from Air Science USA, Fort Myers, Fla, feature a ductless design that eliminates installation costs and allows the unit to be positioned over a sink or benchtop apparatus. There are three models available with a choice of 24-, 36-, or 48-inch widths. The units operate at low noise levels and, because they recirculate, do not exhaust expensive conditioned and/or heated air into the atmosphere. A face velocity of 100 fpm ensures containment of fumes and particulates for operator protection. An alarm alerts the operator when the airflow falls to an unacceptable level. The unit can be placed on any benchtop, and an optional polypropylene spillage tray can be provided when required. The unit also features rear lighting to illuminate the work surface. The main filter can be chosen from 14 different types of carbon, which include specialty media for vapors of organics, solvents, acids, mercury, and formaldehyde. The hoods exceed OSHA, ANSI, and all relevant international standards.

Biomedical Refrigeration

Developed for storage and research applications

Baker BioScience Solutions, Sanford, Me, has expanded its biomedical refrigeration product line with the addition of its energy-saving biomedical refrigerators and biomedical “deep” freezers. The line of high-performance biomedical “deep” freezers (DFR Range) has been developed for a wide variety of storage and research applications and designed to store critical materials that demand constant temperature and security, including laboratory-grade freezing of enzymes, vaccines, and other biologics. The DFR Range offers four models with volumes from 8.7 cubic feet (246L) to 26.1 cubic feet (738L). Each model features advanced control systems, including alarms and flexible set points with operating ranges adjustable in increments of 0.1°C, from -20°C to -41°C and precise sensor control of +/- 0.2°C. In addition, the new laboratory (LR Range) and pharmaceutical (PR Range) biomedical refrigerator collections have advanced control systems with a set point of +4°C and an operating range of +4°C to +15°C, also adjustable in increments of 0.1°C.
