Biochrom, Cambridge, UK, introduces the compact Zenyth 200, a high-performance scanning microplate reader with a built-in UV/Vis spectrophotometer. It is designed specifically for the needs of life science laboratories that need a fast, accurate plate reader with the flexibility to handle multiple plate formats from cell culture plates (6 to 48 well) to 96/384 well plates. The instrument’s advanced optics are capable of endpoint, kinetic, multichromatic, spectral scanning, and position scanning covering the range 190 to 1,000 nm, and the temperature can be controlled for kinetic studies. The Zenyth 200 is available in both stand-alone and PC-controlled versions.

AutoloopPRO
Inoculation loop sterilizer
WLD-TEC, Göttingen, Germany, introduces the AutoloopPRO, a fully automatic carousel for flame sterilizing inoculation loops. Stable housing of the instrument enables comfortable and easy access to inoculation loops. Removal positions on both sides make the carousel equally suitable for right- and left-handed users. The carousel rotates and controls flaming automatically, and flaming and cooling time can be adjusted to the second. When flaming is completed, the display shows the remaining cooling time and the removal positions of cool inoculation loops to prevent unintentional use of hot inoculation loops. Fabricated entirely of stainless steel, anodized aluminum, and a display, protected by heat-resistant glass, it is able to withstand extreme laboratory conditions and is suitable for use with all Fuego safety laboratory gas burners.
