California Healthcare Institute (CHI), a nonprofit public policy research organization representing California academic institutions, biotechnology, medical device, diagnostics, and pharmaceutical firms, has elected new directors.

Robert B. Hance, president of Abbott Diabetes Care; Wyatt R. (Rory) Hume, DDS, PhD, provost and executive vice president of Academic and Health Affairs, University of
California; Christopher J O’Connell, senior vice president, and president of Medtronic Diabetes; and David W. Powell, worldwide president of Advanced Sterilization Products (ASP), are now on the board of directors of CHI.

CHI represents more than 250 leading biotechnology, medical device, diagnostics, and pharmaceutical companies, as well as public and private academic biomedical research organizations. The organization’s mission is to advance responsible public policies that foster medical innovation and promote scientific discovery.
