Desiccant Air Dryer

Energy-efficient, noiseless design
nano-porous systems limited, Gateshead, UK, launches a new ultra-high-purity desiccant air dryer featuring a unique filter/desiccant cartridge that incorporates water separation. The device eliminates the need for external filtration and problems associated with the mechanical failure of condensate float drains. The energy-efficient, noiseless dryer collects condensate within an internal quiet zone/chamber, which is expelled every 2 minutes through timed solenoid waves. It is available in five sizes with flows between 3 and 24 standard cubic feet per minute, and can be floor or wall mounted.

Purair 5 Fume Hoods

Ductless design
The new Purair 5 ductless fume hoods from Air Science USA, Fort Myers, Fla, feature a high level of operator protection where routine work is being carried out. The ductless design eliminates installation costs and allows the unit to be positioned over a sink or benchtop apparatus. There are three models available with a choice of 24-, 36-, or 48-inch widths. The units operate at low noise levels and, because they recirculate, they do not exhaust expensive conditioned and/or heated air into the atmosphere. A face velocity of 100 fpm ensures containment of fumes and particulates for operator protection. An alarm alerts the operator when the airflow falls to an unacceptable level.

Valve Solenoid Operated Isolation Valves

For small flows of aggressive or high-purity fluids
Bio-Chem Fluidics, Boonton, NJ, offers its line of Bio-Chem Valve™ solenoid-operated isolation valves. All wetted parts in the isolation valves are constructed from nonmetallic, inert materials to eliminate contamination of the fluid stream through the valve. The valves’ solenoid actuation mechanism is isolated from the fluid with a flexible diaphragm. Valves can be configured for two-way normally closed, two-way normally open, and three-way operation, with orifice sizes ranging from 0.032 to 0.156 inches. Additionally, the company provides a selection of construction materials (PTFE, PEEK, PPS) and connection types (threaded ports or manifold mountable), allowing customization for many different applications. The isolation valves’ actuation mechanism is rated up to 20 million cycles to ensure a long service life.

Multidiscussion System

Enables multiple users to view the same image field
Carl Zeiss, Thornwood, NY, launches a new multidiscussion system for its Axio Scope and Axio Imager light microscopes, suitable for histologically stained transmitted-light tissue sections or blood smears. The system enables up to 21 individuals to view the same microscope image field at the same time. The image generated under the microscope is seen by all observers with an identical image orientation in a 23-mm field of view. Every configuration can be implemented with standard stages, and there is no required expense for special stages. The co-observer workstations can be configured in either a straight line or in as many right angles as needed.

PharmaGard Isolators

Help maximize compounding accuracy
The PharmaGardâ„¢ series of Compounding Aseptic and Containment isolators, from NuAire, Plymouth, Minn, have recently been updated with several key ergonomic features. Engineered upgrades to the sharps and waste system utilize individual pull-down-and-out trays, which allow users to independently change each sharps and waste container as it fills. Located under the work zone, the pull-down-and-out feature repositions the container closer to the user, requiring less effort when changing. When replacing containers, the locking mechanism helps create an airtight seal, maintaining an ISO Class 5 environment. A vertical sliding counter balance interchamber window creates a seamless transition when entering compounding materials into the work zone. Other key ergonomic features include an auto-lift basestand, oversized oval glove ports, cool white lighting, and three IV bar locations.

Thermo Scientific Barnstead TII

Produces highly pure, Type II water
Thermo Fisher Scientific, Milford, Mass, offers a range of purification systems to meet the needs of laboratories requiring Type II water. The Thermo Scientific Barnstead TII produces water that exceeds Type II water standards and features total organic carbon content below 5 ppb. It provides highly pure feed water to the Thermo Scientific Barnstead Nanopure systems and links with the Thermo Scientific Barnstead TII Storage Reservoir. With an exclusive flow pattern that recirculates water between the unit and storage reservoir, it helps eliminate degradation as a result of storage.
