Not being a big fan of farewells, allow me to make my exit not such much by spotlighting my short time here, but instead by focusing the beam on my successor, Judy O’Rourke ). By the time you read this, she’ll be hard at work creating the June issue of the magazine—and I do mean hard at work.

Judy and I go back a couple years. Prior to my arrival at CLP, I edited Hearing Review Products, another magazine in the Allied Media family, and had the distinct privilege of working with her as my associate editor.

In fact, last fall when she was promoted to managing editor of another sister publication, Rehab Management, I took the opportunity in my October 2010 HRP editor’s message to say goodbye to her, and I’m going to quote a bit from that now as a way of offering a preliminary introduction to her.

I wrote, “Simply put, Judy is the kind of colleague everyone wants to have on their team. A hard-working and dedicated self-starter, Judy’s dependability, enthusiasm, energy, and attention to detail helped make HRP better, and will no doubt be assets she’ll put to use at RM.”

And now with my departure she’ll ably marshal those resources as editor of CLP, and I have no doubt that she’ll do a terrific job.

About my departure, I’m going to defer bothering you with the reasoning behind that decision—especially since my stay here has been so brief. Well, “here” is a relative term. Though only with CLP for a few issues, I was HRP‘s editor for more than 3 years prior. So while my history with this title is comparatively short, my combined time spent with the company leaves me needing to say thanks and goodbye to a few people with whom I’ve also had the pleasure of working directly. Among them, Publisher Dave Galuppo; The Hearing Review Editor Karl Strom; Advertising Directors Tom Madorna, Dave Jeans, Carla Lira, and Joanne Melton; Ad Coordinator Dee Berry; Art Directors Mike Hirano and Lisa Morgan; Associate Editor Chris Gaerig; Copy Editors Linda Litchfield and Debbie Overman; and Marketing Designer Cristina Paraiso. Lastly listed here, but foremost in my mind, is Allied Media President Dennis Triola, who brought me aboard back in September 2007.
