Enhancer Dot-Blot

Stronger signal strength

The Enhancer Dot-Blot from G Biosciences, St Louis, allows for up to 384 dot blots of protein or nucleic acids on nitrocellulose or PVDF nylon membrane. The system concentrates liquid samples in a small area on a membrane through capillary action, thus enhancing the signal strength. The Enhancer Dot-Blot can decrease the risk of cross-contamination among samples while increasing sensitivity by more than tenfold. The system includes sample application Tube-Strips and ready-to-use, precut membranes.

Light-Source Characterization

Multiple options available

Labsphere Inc, North Sutton, NH, has released new packages for LED and light- source characterization. The Starter and Choice packages incorporate new components including spectrometers, intensity heads, a spectral irradiance receiver, a calibration lamp standard, an LED spatial analyzer, and the new LightX software platform. For complete spectroradiometric, photometric, and colorimetric characterization of small to large light sources, the packages new highly sensitive CDS 1100 and CDS 2100 CCD array spectrometers provide a choice of broad spectral ranges in the UV-VIS-NIR. The electrically cooled, back-thinned illuminated CCD design offers low noise with a high dynamic range. Multiple options are available to expand spectrometer performance. With the IES 1000 calibration lamp standard, both intensity and irradiance heads can be calibrated on-site to NIST traceability standards by end users. The rugged tungsten halogen based point source calibration standard has a rated life of 2000 hours.
