Sunquest Information Systems Inc, a market leader in laboratory and diagnostic information systems, today announced the completion of its acquisition of the Outreach Advantage solution suite from Pathology Associates Medical Laboratories (PAML), one of the nation’s top clinical reference laboratories.

The acquisition complements Sunquest’s existing best-of-suite LIS solutions to provide the most comprehensive suite of outreach business management solutions in the industry.

Sunquest signed a definitive agreement on December 18, 2008 to acquire the Outreach Advantage solution suite as part of its stated patient and physician affinity strategy to deliver industry-leading outreach and laboratory connectivity solutions for the US and international markets.  The acquired solutions will enable Sunquest’s customers to create new business opportunities, and reduce the operational costs associated with facilitating better communications between hospitals, laboratories, physicians, communities, and patients.

“Sunquest is making this significant investment in the Outreach Advantage solution suite to enable laboratories to succeed by effectively building and managing their community relationships and outreach business processes,” says Richard Atkin, president and CEO of Sunquest.  “Adding Outreach Advantage to our portfolio will enable laboratory departments to grow test volume, contribute to overall hospital revenues, increase physician and patient satisfaction, and create additional opportunities for expanded services within the hospital.”

”The Outreach Advantage suite has proven invaluable for PAML and our affiliates. It has equipped us with the tools to win numerous new clients and deliver world-class outreach services and functionality in a very competitive business environment,” says Dr Tom Tiffany, CEO and president of Pathology Associates Medical Laboratory.  “Sunquest has the vision, commitment, and resources to bring these solutions and service benefits to a much wider national and global market of hospitals, laboratories, physicians, and patients.”

Under terms of the agreement, Sunquest has granted PAML a license to use the Outreach Advantage suite for its current joint ventures and affiliates, as well as for future joint ventures.  PAML will refer to the suite as “Joint Venture Advantage” to distinguish it from the commercially available “Sunquest Outreach Advantage”.

The Outreach Advantage suite provides customer relationship management tools, sales and marketing business intelligence, mobile courier management, and connectivity tools for integrating with EMRs, LIS, and other enterprise systems.
