A droplet digital polymerase chain reaction (ddPCR) microsatellite instability (MSI) assay is available to early-access customers for research use only. The ddPCR MSI assay quantifies the level of MSI present in colorectal tumors, and can be completed in a single day using a ddPCR-based platform. The test can be performed using either patient blood samples or formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded tissue samples, and does not require matched normal blood or tissue samples.
The assay quantitatively identifies mutations in five loci that lead to identification of MSI status. Colorectal tumors that test positive for MSI-high status are candidates for treatment with immune checkpoint inhibitors. The assay is simple, highly sensitive, and provides a standardized output that does not require a pathologist’s interpretation.
