The Center for Phlebotomy Education has released the 3rd edition of its popular Preventing Preanalytical Errors training video in DVD and streaming formats. Fully re-scripted, revised, and updated to reflect the current CLSI standards, this video counts down 12 categories of blood collection and handling errors that encompass 40 of those most commonly committed by phlebotomists and other healthcare professionals. Errors include patient misidentification, sample mislabeling, improper mixing, delays in processing, incorrect order of draw, improper centrifugation, errors that cause hemolysis, those that alter potassium results, and more.

Written, directed, and produced by industry expert Dennis J. Ernst, the 38-minute video places emphasis on the impact preanalytical errors have on test results and patient care. It is closed captioned to meet ADA requirements. A subscription to the streaming version includes access to CE questions for in-house use and certification maintenance.
