The IMDx VanR for Abbott m2000 assay from IMDx, Waltham, Mass, has been approved for sale and distribution in Canada and Singapore. Previously FDA-cleared and CE-marked, the assay uses polymerase chain reaction for the qualitative detection of vanA and vanB genes that can be associated with vancomycin-resistant enterococci (VRE) from human stool samples or from peri-rectal or rectal swabs. It is intended for use as an aid to identify, prevent, and control vancomycin-resistant colonization in healthcare settings. The Abbott m2000 offers flexible sample preparation options of 24, 48, 72, or 96 samples per run, while quick sample preparation reduces operator time and increases throughput. The IMDx VanR for Abbott m2000 assay is distributed by Abbott Molecular. For more information, visit Abbott Molecular or IMDx.
