95kPa-Compliant Containers
Safe for mailing and transporting biologicals
Sterilin, Caerphilly, UK, now offers a range of 95kPa-complaint containers to comply with the internal pressure differential test requirements of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and the International Air Transport Association (IATA). The containers are tested and certified to withstand an internal pressure differential of 95kPa without leaking, which complies with transportation requirements and allows the safe transportation of biologicals without risk of spillage or leakage. The 95kPa-compliant product range includes Sterilin 30-mL polystyrene universals (128A, 128B, and 128C) and Sterilin 60-mL polystyrene containers with metal caps (125AM, 125BM, and 125CM). Compact mycobacteria culture system
BD Diagnostics, Sparks, MD, launches the BD BACTEC™ MGIT™ 320 mycobacteria culture system—a new, smaller-capacity system for detecting tuberculosis. Designed for smaller-volume laboratories, the system holds 320 tubes for an annual capacity of approximately 2,700 specimens per year. Featuring MGIT media and patented sensors, the system makes use of advanced fluorometric technology, which permits highly accurate detection of O2 consumption without sharps. It also offers easy-to-use culture detection, with minimal hands-on time, plus plastic screw-cap tubes for easy access to the medium and a simple four-step instrument workflow. For safety, the system does not require needles to inoculate or subculture the test tubes, eliminating the risk of needle-stick injuries while inoculating tubes or working up positive cultures.

Premade Control Slides

To make slides easier to use and more environmentally friendly, the company recently began individually packaging slides in a sealed foil pouch, designed to preserve the integrity of the sample substrate even after the external box is opened.
