The partnership integrates Labcorp’s full test menu into the Epic Aura platform to streamline clinical workflows and reduce information technology complexity for health systems.
Labcorp and Epic announced an expanded collaboration to make Labcorp’s full test menu available through Aura, Epic’s platform for ordering and receiving laboratory results. The integration is intended to improve operational efficiencies and streamline lab ordering for clinicians and care teams at hospitals and health systems using Epic nationwide.
According to a press release from Labcorp, health systems often face time-consuming information technology (IT) projects when integrating with laboratory partners. By using the Aura platform, the expansion aims to reduce the time, cost, and maintenance typically required for laboratory interfaces.
The integration builds on the existing availability of Invitae genetic tests through the platform. Health systems will now be able to access the full menu of tests and new diagnostics as they are introduced directly within their existing electronic health record workflows.
“This expanded collaboration reflects how Labcorp is investing to meet the evolving needs of hospitals and health systems,” says Bryan Vaughn, executive vice president and president of diagnostics at Labcorp, in a release. “By simplifying lab integrations and delivering our full test menu directly within Epic workflows, we are expanding access and building a strong foundation for continued innovation.”
The collaboration is designed to help clinicians order the correct tests more efficiently within their standard digital environment.
“Expanding Labcorp’s use of Aura to include its full test menu makes it easy for clinicians to order the right test the first time, right from their workflow, so patients get accurate answers faster,” says Sumit Rana, president of Epic, in a release.
According to the companies, the expanded integration will allow clinicians to access Labcorp’s diagnostic offerings without leaving the Epic ecosystem, which is intended to accelerate the delivery of results to patients.
