The new artificial intelligence-enabled tool allows scientists to search for samples using plain language while maintaining data traceability and context.

Cenevo has launched an artificial intelligence (AI)-enabled inventory search capability for its Mosaic platform, designed to simplify sample discovery for scientific teams.

Mosaic AI Inventory Search allows users to search inventory using natural language. Scientists can describe items in plain language, such as “all tubes registered during the last seven days stored in freezer XYZ,” and the AI assistant builds and executes the search automatically, according to a company release.

Unlike generic chat tools, the search capability is integrated into the platform’s sample-centric data model. This allows the assistant to understand sample properties, labware types, modalities, and customer-specific configurations, the company says.

“Mosaic AI Inventory Search is another step toward connected, agentic labs where AI helps scientific teams move from data to action more seamlessly,” says Alan Parkin, vice president of product at Mosaic, in a release. “By embedding AI directly within trusted laboratory systems, we can deliver faster, more intuitive workflows while maintaining the governance, traceability, and control modern labs require.”

The tool is built into the existing inventory search workflow currently used by the majority of Mosaic users. The capability is available for cloud deployments as part of the company’s expanding AI portfolio.
