The collaboration integrates recyclable storage platforms into existing sample management workflows to reduce plastic waste without disrupting laboratory operations.
Azenta Life Sciences announced a collaboration with PulpFixin, a manufacturer of sustainable labware, to help laboratories reduce plastic waste without sacrificing performance, traceability, or operational efficiency.
The partnership combines Azenta’s expertise in sample management and lab automation with the PulpFixin AutoRack 100% recyclable storage platform. This integration is designed to provide scalable sustainability improvements without requiring major workflow redesign, automation revalidation, or disruption to existing sample management processes.
“At Azenta, we’re committed to advancing more environmentally responsible laboratory workflows and supporting customers as they work toward their sustainability goals,” says Michael Bussmann, vice president and general manager of consumables and instruments at Azenta, in a release. “We’ve already taken steps in this direction, including offering Society for Biomolecular Screening racks made with 90% recycled content, and we continue to look for ways to expand lower-impact options across our portfolio.”
Bussmann says that by combining the biodegradable rack platform with established FluidX sample management workflows, laboratories can reduce reliance on conventional plastic lab consumables. The system maintains compatibility with automation systems, sample integrity, cold-chain performance, and operational scalability.
