A homocysteine reagent from Carolina Liquid Chemistries Corp is available for use on a variety of chemistry analyzers. Test results can be achieved in less than 15 minutes, and depending on the chemistry system used, a throughput of 200 to 800 tests per hour can be attained. Homocysteine is used in the diagnosis of cardiac risk, dementia, Alzheimer’s disease, and neural tube defects.
This newly developed recombinant enzymatic cycling assay amplifies the homocysteine molecule allowing typical precision of 2% with linearity to 50 mol/L. Carolina’s RECA™ homocysteine method correlates 1:1 with HPLC and fluorescence polarization methods.
The homogenous homocysteine method, which is suitable for plasma and serum, requires no sample pretreatment. The assay uses a 2-point calibration. Reagents are stable onboard for 30 days. Each kit includes calibrators and comes in 100-, 200-, and 500-test sizes.
Carolina also offers assayed homocysteine controls and linearity material.
