Cargille

Immersion Oils

Since 1924, Cargille, Cedar Grove, NJ, has been providing specialized services to a broad range of laboratory sciences. Key optical characteristics make immersion oil function as a high quality component of the optics of the microscope.

Types A & B are sufficiently low fluorescing for most fluorescence microscopy applications. Extremely low fluorescence is achieved by Type DF, which has a viscosity of 330 cSt. Type 37DF has been specially designed to the proper optical values at 37°C to give the sharpest image, making it ideal for fluorescence microscopy at 37 °C with a refractive index of 1.515 at 37°C and a viscosity of 250 cSt. Type FF is virtually fluorescence-free. Viscosity for type A is 150 cSt, type B is 1250 cSt, type FF is 170 cSt. Today, Cargille immersion oils are accepted by all microscope manufacturers. Cargille provides the largest line of immersion oils for traditional and specialty uses, and continues to set performance standards in product development, refinement, and support services.

Diagnostic Hybrids Inc

D3 FastPoint

The D3 FastPoint L-DFA influenza A/influenza B virus identification kit, from Diagnostic Hybrids, Athens, Ohio, uses a revolutionary technology that allows for the identification of influenza A and B with DFA accuracy in under 25 minutes from specimen receipt to virus identification. D3 FastPoint gives you the accuracy and quality of DFA direct specimen testing in a rapid timeframe, while confirming specimen adequacy by allowing visualization of stained cells, avoiding false negatives due to inadequate cell sampling procedures. It also provides accurate influenza A and influenza B results in the same time frame as RIDTs (rapid antigen tests), allowing laboratories to report results within the critical care window without compromising quality. D3 FastPoint’s fluorescence technology maximizes efficiency by using dual fluorescence labeling of differentiated influenza A and B antibodies in one reagent, allowing for the identification of two viruses in one step. The fluorescent results can be read easily with a single fluorescence microscope filter set.

Euroimmun US

Anti-GAF(3X) lgG ELISA Assay

Euroimmun US, Boonton Twp, NJ, has received FDA clearance for their new Anti-GAF(3X) IgG ELISA assay for use in conjunction with Tissue Transglutaminase ( tTG) IgA to provide highly reliable serologic diagnosis of celiac disease (CD).

The new Anti-GAF(3X) IgG assay utilizes a very specific epitope for antibodies found in celiac disease. Sensitivity of this assay is over 85% and specificity is 98%. Studies have shown that the diagnostic accuracy of the Anti-Gliadin (GAF-3X) ELISA for IgG antibodies is higher than that for the corresponding IgA antibodies and comparable with that of the Anti tTG ELISA IgA assay. Parallel testing of anti-tTG (IgA) and anti-Gliadin(GAF-3X) (IgG) achieves the optimum serological hit rate and will guard against missing any patients with IgA deficiency.

Euroimmun US has also received FDA clearance for their new Anti-GAF(3X) IgA ELISA assay.

Euroimmun US has a complete product menu for celiac testing by EIA, IFA, and blots, as well as a full line of autoimmune assays. Assays have been validated on the EUROAnalyzer as well as on the smaller 2-plate version. The assays may also be run manually as well as on automated systems.
