Nova Biomedical, Waltham, Mass, has added prothrombin time/international normalized ratio (PT/INR) testing to its Allegro capillary blood analyzer for point-of-care testing in primary care settings.
The Allegro and its StatStrip-A companion meter now provide 18 tests—including cholesterol, creatinine, glucose, HbA1c, hematocrit, hemoglobin, triglycerides, uric acid, and urine albumin:creatinine ratio—to help physicians make therapeutic decisions and adjustments at the point of care.
All Allegro tests combine capillary fingerstick sampling with easy-to-use disposable test cartridges or strips, eliminating the need for venipunctures or a trained phlebotomist. Allegro offers 6- to 9-minute cartridge test times and the ability to measure two cartridges simultaneously, speeding results.
The Allegro analyzer and new PT/INR test are available in CE-regulated countries.
