These fungal immodiffusion serology products can detect H. capsulatum, B. Dermatitidis, C. immitis and A. fumigatus, the causative agents of deep-seated mycoses.
Radiographically, lesions produced by the systemic fungi may be difficult to distinguish from tuberculous lesions, neoplasms, cancerous tissue and each other. Symptoms are often unremarkable and may mimic other maladies. Cuturally and histologically the organisms may be difficult to demonstrate. Frequently, serology offers the only evidence available to guide treatment.
These fungal immunodiffusion serology products are standardized, purified preparations for the in vitro determination of precipitating antibodies to four systemic fungal pathogens: Histoplasma capsulatum, Blastomyces dermatitidis, Coccidioides immitis and Aspergillus fumigatus. Reagents are optimized for use in the Ouchterlony double diffusion method.
