FDA has acted to facilitate the importation of products—including personal protective equipment (PPE) and medical devices needed to help fight the covid-19 pandemic—into the United States. The agency released instructions to importers to clarify the types of PPE that can be imported without engaging with FDA. The instructions also detail the type of information importers can submit to facilitate their entries.

FDA has also established an email inbox,  [email protected], for industry representatives to quickly communicate with the agency and address questions or concerns.

Virus particles are shown emerging from the surface of cells cultured in the lab. The crown-like spikes on the outer edge of the virus particles give coronaviruses their name.
