Summary: Torrey Pines Scientific introduced a new line of multi-position stirring analog hot plates and stirrers designed to resist corrosion, making them suitable for use with corrosive solutions and acid digestions.

  • The new line of stirring hot plates and stirrers from Torrey Pines Scientific features either five or nine stirring positions, with each position individually controlled.
  • These units offer flexibility for different experimental setups and sample sizes, ranging from 5-800ml beakers for the five-position units to 9-500ml beakers for the nine-position units.
  • The units prioritize user safety by incorporating features such as a purge port for inert gas, controls positioned away from the heater surface to prevent burns, and a design that minimizes the risk of spills entering the chassis.

Torrey Pines Scientific announced a new line of corrosion-resistant multi-position stirring analog hot plates and stirrers featuring five or nine stirring positions, making them ideal for acid digestions and working with most any corrosive solutions.

Safe from Corrosive Vapors

The large 12” (305 mm) square ceramic heater tops have a temperature range to 450°C. A purge port on the rear on the units is provided for purging with a positive pressure of any inert gas. Most chassis openings have been closed. This keeps corrosive vapors from getting inside the units and protects the electronics and stirrer motors.

The five-position stirring units can stir 5-800ml beakers, and the nine-position units can stir 9-500ml beakers of corrosive aqueous solutions from 100 to 1500 rpm. Each stirring position is individually controlled.

Prevents Accidental Burns and Spills

The units measure 19” (432 mm) deep by 12.5” (318 mm) wide by 5.25” (134 mm) tall. They can support more than 50 pounds (22.6kg) on the plate surface. All controls are mounted well forward of the heater surface to protect against accidental burns, and the units are designed to keep spills out of the chassis.

The units are available in 115VAC/60Hz, 220VAC/60Hz, and 230VAC/50Hz. They have a main AC on/off switch and are fused for safety. They are supplied with user’s manual and detachable line cord for the country of use. All units are ETL, CSA, and CE or equivalent rated.
