Rasmussen College’s Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) program at the Green Bay Campus has earned accreditation from the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS). The distinction, earned through a three-year process, ensures students enrolled in the program will benefit from the highest level of standards in curriculum and instruction.

"The rigor associated with receiving this high-level of accreditation can be stressful for any college but the results offer a tremendous benefit to our students," stated Jon Otterbacher, Rasmussen College Green Bay campus director. "We are proud of this great achievement for our campus and all of the work conducted over the past three years to obtain this level of accreditation for our MLT program."

Medical lab technicians (MLTs) play a key role in assisting medical professionals, working behind the scenes to perform tests that provide vital information to aid in the proper diagnosis and treatment planning for life-threatening diseases and illnesses. MLTs work in hospitals, clinics, commercial laboratories and public health facilities, as well as in medical research and development, marketing and sales of laboratory equipment, crime scene investigation and forensic science. One of the fastest-growing careers in the medical field, job opportunities for MLTs are expected to grow 16 percent, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Rasmussen College’s in-depth curriculum and lab-specific courses allow students to utilize fully equipped, professional-grade laboratories to gain hands-on knowledge and skills to accurately perform diagnostic testing. The College is affiliated with some of the top hospitals and clinics in Wisconsin. Students receive a wide variety of hands-on learning experiences at these facilities and gain critical knowledge and skills from working directly with patients and with health care professionals in the field. Students observe and learn the latest trends and techniques in preparation for the MLT (ASCP) National Credentialing exam, which they can take immediately upon graduation at no cost – Rasmussen College covers the application fee.
