Lighthouse Lab Services, a nationwide provider of clinical laboratory consulting and management offerings, has successfully acquired Alternative Biomedical Solutions (ABS), a lab services company based in Carrollton, Texas, with a focus on instrument procurement and servicing.

Founded in 1995, Alternative Biomedical Solutions offers a host of laboratory consulting and instrumentation services that will complement Lighthouse’s existing offerings, including extensive experience with physician office labs, forensics, and instrument procurement and servicing, the company says.

Lighthouse President Jon Harol says the acquisition of Alternative Biomedical Solutions furthers Lighthouse’s goal of comprehensively serving the end-to-end needs of its clinical lab customers.

“This acquisition equips us with the ability to offer our customers first-class equipment service at a better price point and with more flexibility than other solutions,” says Harol, who founded Lighthouse in 2003. “This move will also allow us to further optimize our customer’s supply and consumable costs and will expand our capabilities beyond the clinical lab industry into the adjacent CRO and PFAS lab markets.”

Alternative Biomedical Solutions CEO Joe Coffey is similarly excited about the expanded service offerings that will now be available to existing ABS customers.

“Legacy ABS customers will have significant new capabilities available to them to serve their patients with the Lighthouse acquisition,” Coffey says. “Lighthouse will now offer a comprehensive, vertically integrated suite of products and services from laboratory start-up and staffing through ongoing equipment service and quality lab management.”

Lighthouse, based in Charlotte, North Carolina, has expanded the company’s suite of services in recent years – now covering everything from lab start-up services, consulting, equipment procurement and servicing, recruiting and staffing, payer contracting, revenue cycle management, and more, the company says.

Lighthouse CEO Mark Roth says he is eager to leverage the acquisition of ABS to grow into new adjacent markets and provide more support and offerings for the companies’ combined customer base.

“ABS has a solid reputation and track record in this industry,” Roth adds. “We are excited to add many experienced professionals to our team who will continue to help us deliver best-in-class service for years to come.”
