Variable Intensity Transilluminator

Can be adjusted from 0 to 9,000 µW/cm

Hoefer Inc, Holliston, Mass, introduces the MacroVue™ UV-25 Variable Intensity Transilluminator. The device can be adjusted from 0 to 9,000 µW/cm, covering a larger range of preparative and analytical applications. The six 8-watt, 302-nm lamps ensure uniform illumination of the 21- x 26-cm viewing area. A hinged, clear UV safety cover minimizes personnel exposure to UV rays from the lamps. Optional shortwave 8-watt 254-nm lamps are also available to change illumination from 302 nm to 254 nm for irradiating samples. The device comes equipped with a universal power supply, a large viewing area, and a hinged, clear UV safety cover.

Multichannel Biosensing Measurement System

Can handle signals of either polarity

Warner Instruments, Hamden, Conn, offers the BioStat, a software-driven, multimode potentiostat for measuring pH, reactive oxygen species, and nitric oxide. The system allows precise amperometric, voltammetric, and temperature measurements to be made independently on up to four channels. Total electrical isolation of each channel ensures independent recording with low noise. It can handle signals of either polarity, employing either two-electrode or three-electrode sensor configurations. The compact case and shielding is stable and durable while providing immunity from external interference. The solution can be used with the company’s line of microminiature electrodes and sensors, or for any multichannel, isolated data acquisition, such as multielectrode electrophysiological recordings.

Analytical and Precision Balances

Utilizes an application-based software platform

OHAUS Corp, Parsippany, NJ, introduces the Explorer series of analytical and precision balances. The balances use an application-based software platform in concert with a redesigned antistatic draftshield and modular construction. Utilizing the newly developed SmarText™ 2.0 software platform, the Explorer provides easy-to-use graphical software featuring 14 applications. The draftshield provides access and visibility to the weighing chamber and features antistatic coated glass. The 6.3- x 9.4-inch side-entry access allows use of large weigh boats in the weighing chamber. The antistatic coated glass helps dissipate static charges in the weighing chamber that could adversely affect the weighing results, while the side doors glide on top-mounted bearings, helping to prevent any potential bind-up when the balance is left unclean. The balances also feature four touchless sensors for hands-free operation of print, calibration, tare, and other selectable functions.
