product This new Hemoglobin A1c assay provides the clinician with a patient’s glycemic history of the previous 60 – 90 days. It is a 3 reagent system for the quantitative analysis of glycated hemoglobin, and requires the measurement of Total Hemoglobin as well as the Hemoglobin A1c fraction.
This reagent system first determines the Total Hemoglobin concentration by a single reagent colormetric alkaline hematin method. The measurement of specific Hb A1c is then accomplished by performance of a 2 reagent latex agglutination inhibition assay. These are performed simultaneously on the chemistry analyzer. The method has a clinically useful analytical range of 1.8 – 17.2% and demonstrates excellent correlation to the HPLC reference method ( r=0.97).
