Avoid cross-contamination

Prevent cross contamination when wiping blood spills on blood gas analyzers by using orange Biohazard Wipes from Current Technologies, Crawfordsville, Ind. The white side absorbs blood while the orange plastic backing prevents leak-through to gloves. They are available in 3- x 3-inch and 4- x 4-inch sizes, as well as in three absorbencies (standard, heavy, and super sponge-plus). Piezo Switches

Can directly replace electromechanical switches

APEM Components Inc, Haverhill, Mass, offers normally open (NO) prolonged pulse PBA piezoelectric (piezo) switches. The PBA piezo switch requires only two wires and can directly replace electromechanical switches. Unlike most piezo switches with pulse-only outputs, the company’s PBA C function mimics the behavior of a standard switch, so the longer the actuator is pressed, the longer the output response—up to 20 seconds. The switch consumes no power and uses no external power source, ground, or power wires. The switches are available in seven standard colors.
