productThis company has developed a rapid malaria assay appropriate for all clinical settings.
The OptiMAL assay is a sensitive, simple to use dipstick assay that permits detection of all major species of human malaria and can distinguish between P. falciparum and P. vivax. In addition, it can be used to monitor patient therapy.
To use, dispense 30µl of buffer into a sample well. Add 10µl of whole blood and mix well for 60 seconds. Add one OptiMAL test strip (thin part of strip down) to test well and allow all of the sample to wick completely up the test strip (about 10 minutes).
For samples that do not wick completely, transfer strip to step 3 after 15 minutes. For step three, move the test strip to a second wash well containing 100µl (4-5 drops) of buffer. Read the test strip after the blood color has cleared. Label and save strip. The test takes a total of 15 to 20 minutes.
