Liquichek Hematology and Reticulocyte Controls

Feature 75-day shelf life

Bio-Rad Laboratories, Hercules, Calif, launches its Liquichek™ hematology control and Liquichek reticulocyte control, designed to monitor the precision of hematology parameters on Siemens ADVIA® systems. Both controls are available in three levels, with a 75-day shelf life and a 14-day open-vial stability at 2°C to 8°C. The Unity™ interlaboratory program with peer group comparison is available for use with both controls. Data entry to the Unity software can be conveniently automated with UnityConnect™ or WebConnect™ connectivity solutions.

quanTscopics Urine Microscopics Control

Now assayed for IRIS iQ200 analyzers

Quantimetrix, Redondo Beach, Calif, introduces a newly added instrument to its quanTscopics™ urine microscopics control insert, which is designed to give users a simple way to monitor the performance of urine microscopic analysis. The quanTscopics urine microscopics control is now assayed for the IRIS iQ200 series analyzers. quanTscopics is liquid, made with real human urine, and comes with a 2-year unopened and open vial stability when stored at 2°C to 8°C. Easy-to-use squeeze bottles simplify dispensing. Also included are qualitative and quantitative values for standardized urinalysis systems and analyzers.

AccuMAX Radiometer/Photometer

Features Interchangeable Sensors

Spectronics Corp, Westbury, NY, introduces the AccuMAX™ series of digital radiometers/photometers, which provide accurate readouts for UV irradiance, visible illuminance, and luminance light readings. The readout units are specially calibrated for use with a full line of interchangeable sensor detectors. Single-wavelength sensor detectors are available in both standard range and extended range. The standard range provides UV readings from microwatts to milliwatts, and the extended range provides measurements from milliwatts to watts. All sensors are ideal for checking the intensities of fluorescent UV tubes and HID UV bulbs. Meters are microprocessor-controlled with software-driven functions.

TCS STED CW Microscope

Features super-resolution technology

The Leica TCS STED CW super-resolution microscope, from Leica Microsystems, Bannockburn, Ill, combines the high-end confocal Leica TCS SP5 with a patented optical and super-resolution technology that is characterized by its capability of highspeed scanning on the nanoscale. The Leica TCS STED CW can be used with standard fluorescent dyes and proteins, making it compatible with a wide range of applications. The system is based on the company’s established STED technology, which scales down the scanning spot to subdiffraction size by switching off fluorescence in the periphery of the excited area. Continuous wave lasers for depletion increase the STED recording speed up to three times without any loss of super-resolution performance, allowing researchers to follow dynamic processes with less than 80 nm spatial resolution.
