This liquid cholesterol reagent is based on the reaction of cholesterol esters, which are enzymatically hydrolyzed by cholesterol esterase to cholesterol and free fatty foods.
Free cholesterol, including that originally present, is then oxidized by cholesterol oxidase to cholesterol – 3- one and hydrogen peroxide. Hydrogen peroxide reacts with 4-aminoantipyrine to form a chromophore, measured at 500nm.
The 10 x 100mL reagent kit has an 18-month shelf life (and is linear to 700ng/dL) when stored at 2-8ºC.
