Syringe Pump

Continuous delivery and operation

KD Scientific, Holliston, Mass, introduces the new Gemini 88 Syringe Pump, billed as “two pumps in one.” The Gemini 88 has two independent pumping channels linked through hardware and software. The pump can infuse simultaneously at different rates, or can infuse with one syringe and withdraw with the other. The pump has high-pressure capabilities and TTL and RS-232 interfaces for data acquisition and control. The communications ports enable daisy-chaining up to 100 pumps. When combined with a valve box, the model 88 can provide continuous delivery and operation with a wide range of syringes from 0.5 µL up to 140 mL.

StatSpin CytoFuge 12

12-place compact cytocentrifuge

The new StatSpin® CytoFuge 12, from Iris Sample Processing, Westwood, Mass, is a compact, low-cost cytocentrifuge, operating from 200 to 2,000 rpm, that concentrates up to 12 samples and gently deposits cells in a monolayer onto microscope slides for a variety of cell preparations. For safety, the unit operates only when the outer lid is locked. Inside is a removable sealed rotor that can be loaded in a hood to eliminate exposure to biohazards and can be autoclaved. Samples from 50 µL up to 800 µL are processed with snap-seal filter concentrators in consumable and reusable formats.
