Almatec®, Kamp-Lintfort, Germany, launches its AD 6 Pneumatic Diaphragm Pump for use in laboratory applications. Designed to handle a maximum delivery volume of 250 lph (66 gph), the pumps are equipped with spring-loaded valves and can be installed in any position. The pump’s housing is constructed of corrosion-resistant solid PTFE conductive. Its conductivity permits use in explosion-hazard areas and with inflammable liquids. Additional features include submersible operation; dry-lift capabilities; proof against overloading and dry-running; a patented, maintenance-free air-control system (PERSWING P®) without a dead center; PTFE diaphragms; gentle liquid displacement; acceptable use in unattended continuous tests; and optional connection kits for laboratory and sample pulling.

Unique diffusing screen eliminates confusing light striations
Spectronics Corp, Westbury, NY, introduces its laptop-size Slimline™ series UV transilluminator, which measures only 11.5 x 14 x 2¼ inches. It delivers a typical peak 312nm intensity of 9,000 W/cm2 at the filter surface and is ideal for visualization and photodocumentation of mini gels. A unique diffusing screen ensures excellent light distribution and eliminates confusing light striations caused by the contours of the tubes. The exclusive LONGLIFE™ filter glass inhibits solarization up to 50 times longer than ordinary filters.
