This company’s Autofluor System is designed as an alternative to conventional semi-quantitation of anti-nuclear antibodies (ANA). The Autofluor System combines the Anafluor HEp-2 IFA test kit and the PolyTiter system from Polymedco. The complete system includes a microscope adapter, keypad, computer and substrate slides.
Conventional follow-up testing of positive HEp-2 ANA requires a series of two-fold patient sample dilutions. As the level of antibody is diluted, the intensity of fluorescence is decreased. The higher the level of antibody, the higher the endpoint titer. The Autofluor System tests a single screening dilution of the patient sample, eliminating serial dilutions, and significantly decreasing turnaround time. The PolyTiter system utilizes attenuation, a controlled step-wise decrease in light intensity that simulates and correlates with serial dilutions. The endpoint titer is determined from the standard curve generated by the software interfaced with the PolyTiter system, which promotes IFA standardization. ANA Pattern determination is also easily performed with this system.
