xTAG Cystic Fibrosis 39 Kit v2
Screens recommended mutations and variants
The xTAG® Cystic Fibrosis 39 Kit v2, from Luminex, Austin, Tex, screens for the 23 CFTR gene mutations and four variants recommended by the American College of Medical Genetics and American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, and 16 additional CFTR gene mutations from human blood specimens in a few hours. It is used to screen potential parents to determine if they are carriers of CF-causing gene mutations, and as an aid in newborn screening and in confirmatory diagnostic testing in newborns and children. The test is uniquely flexible, offering physicians the option to test for the 23 ACMG/ACOG-recommended gene mutations or the entire panel of 39 CFTR gene mutations.

The test is an important screening component for the detection, prevention, and management of Hemolytic Disease of the Newborn. The test uses an innovative blend of monoclonal antibodies for stability and accuracy, enzyme-treated indicator cells to facilitate robust reactivity and results clarity, and fewer microscopic fields to simplify results reading and interpretation. The test can be performed in both hospitals and blood banks.
