Streck Inc, Omaha, Neb, introduces the Philisa® Thermal Cycler, a high-speed polymerase chain reaction (PCR) instrument with the potential to improve laboratory efficiency and flexibility.

The Philisa Thermal Cycler enables users to reduce PCR amplification time to less than 15 minutes using standard PCR chemistry. While other thermal cyclers offer maximum ramp rates of 5°C/s, Philisa achieves heating ramp rates up to 15°C/s and cooling ramp rates up to 12°C/s.

The Philisa PCR tubes’ thin walls and design promote rapid, uniform heat distribution throughout the reaction, maximizing efficiency and results. The 50 μl tubes are DNase- and RNase-free and conveniently packaged in quality-sealed containers. The Philisa Thermal Cycler includes intuitive Windows®-based software that enables users to run simple or complex protocols.
