Ortho Clinical Diagnostics, Raritan, NJ, has announced that it has received a CE mark signifying conformance to applicable European Union regulatory requirements for the company’s Vitros XT MicroSlide, a new multitest technology that enables labs to run two tests simultaneously.

The new XT MicroSlide is powered by digital chemistry, an optics technology that gleans significantly more information from each test than before, improving performance, saving time and space in the lab, and increasing productivity, with less patient sample required for testing. This is an important advantage for vulnerable patients or those with venous access issues.

“Vitros XT MicroSlides improve performance and productivity by delivering high-quality results and higher throughput without requiring more lab space,” says Heidi Casaletto, head of portfolio strategy and marketing at Ortho. “Having the capability to perform two tests on one slide offers several key advantages to the lab and to the patient—especially those with venous access issues—by requiring a smaller sample volume for testing and enabling more timely reporting.”

Key features and benefits of the XT MicroSlide include:

  • Digital chemistry. Advanced digital imaging optics technology that gleans significantly more information from each test than before, improving performance and enabling powerful data analysis.
  • Reliably high-quality result. Enables labs to consistently and efficiently deliver accurate and reliable results.
  • Increased productivity and efficiency. Simultaneously performs two tests that are commonly ordered together from a single small blood sample. This improves lab productivity and turnaround time, while simplifying inventory management and optimizing storage space.
