Lithium therapy, used in the treatment of manic depression psychosis, requires reaching plasma concentrations of lithium that are relatively close to the toxic concentration, so patients on lithium therapy should be under careful clinical and laboratory control. Serum lithium concentrations are monitored three times weekly and blood studies and urinalysis weekly during the initial period of administration and periodically as required thereafter.
The reagent as supplied is in stable, single-vial, ready to use format.
