The Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) in Boston has gone live with Sunquest Information Systems Inc’s CoPathPlus™ 5.0, a solution designed to support the anatomic pathology laboratory’s complex workflow and reporting needs. The implementation was conducted as part of a 10-year collaboration agreement between Sunquest and MGH.

MGH is implementing the CoPath Plus 5.0 specimen management and tracking solution to automate management of anatomic pathology specimens, which will enable more efficient and accurate analysis, enhanced speed to diagnosis, and, ultimately, improved patient outcomes.

During the implementation, a team of Sunquest, MGH, and Partners HealthCare Information Systems specialists converted more than 20 years of anatomic pathology data, including over 2.4 million cases, 1.8 million unique tissue cassette numbers, and 4.2 million unique slides numbers. The implementation was the first time that large numbers of unique cassettes and slides were converted from a foreign system into CoPath Plus and could be recognized and processed in a version of CoPath Plus.
