Verichem Laboratories, Providence, RI, has released a ready-to-use, liquid stable Urine Chemistry Standard kit. Intended for either calibration or calibration verification of urine chemistry assays on clinical testing systems, the five-level set of definitive standard reference materials contains eight separate components covering a total of 40 individual set points, and includes the analytes urea nitrogen (BUN), calcium, chloride, creatinine, magnesium, phosphorus, potassium, and sodium. The materials are designed to be treated as patient specimens in conjunction with any wet clinical test system.

Verichem’s Urine Chemistry Standard kit comes in a ready-to-use, liquid stable format that incorporates a biosynthetic matrix that allows for urine-like reactivity, maximum product stability, and lot-to-lot consistency. The matrix formulation and set point design are vital for the determination of testing method accuracy, sensitivity, linearity, and reportable range. Each of the five standard concentrations is verified using available standard reference materials from the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). All products are free of surfactants, azide, glycols, and other interfering constituents.

The materials are packaged in easy-to-use, translucent polyethylene dropper vials and offer an exceptional shelf-life stability claim of 17 months minimum from date of manufacture when stored refrigerated at temperatures of 2° C to 8° C.
