The Xpressor filtration and capping solution is designed to reduce manual handling and improve preanalytical efficiency in toxicology laboratories.
Alps Dx is launching Xpressor, a new filtration with capping device, during the Association for Diagnostics & Laboratory Medicine (ADLM) 2026 Annual Meeting & Clinical Lab Expo. The product is designed to make oral fluid sample preparation faster, safer, and more consistent.
The device was developed to address long-standing challenges in forensic and clinical toxicology laboratories where manual methods require multiple handling steps that can slow operations and increase the potential for error, according to the company. Many laboratories still rely on squeezing swabs by hand, changing gloves between samples, and running time-consuming centrifugation procedures, which can add variation and create opportunities for contamination or sample loss, the company says.
“Preanalytical handling has historically been one of the most time-intensive and inconsistent stages of oral fluid testing,” says Les Edinboro, PhD, co-founder and chief scientific officer of Alps Dx, in a release. “Xpressor was created to give laboratories a straightforward way to reduce manual, error-prone steps and protect sample integrity without altering established workflows. By allowing filtration to occur within the original collection tube, we are helping laboratories operate with greater consistency and confidence.”
The preparation process is streamlined into two steps where a technician opens the tube and inserts the filter and cap. According to Alps Dx, independent early studies show this approach reduces the amount of handling required and produces a more consistent level of sample clarity compared to traditional methods.
Laboratories using the device have reported fewer glove changes, lower contamination risk, improved traceability of the original chain-of-custody tube, and a reduction in time spent processing each sample, according to the company. The solution is also expected to reduce sample loss and consumable use, supporting cost control and sustainability goals.

At the ADLM 2026 meeting, the company will also showcase the Atelier automated preanalytical processing platform. The scalable, high-throughput platform automates sample handling and preparation to improve efficiency and traceability while reducing the potential for human error, according to the company. The subscription-based platform is designed to allow laboratories to scale operations without the need for upfront capital investment.
