LabAutomation2007, a conference and exhibition on laboratory automation and emerging technologies, welcomed 4,600 registrants to the Palm Springs Convention Center, January 27-31.

The conference featured the top 100 podium presentations organized in five educational tracks, 19 short courses, 172 poster presentations, 27 academic travel awards, 22 industry-sponsored workshops, and 217 exhibitors in 397 booths. Guests traveled to Palm Springs from 39 countries around the world.

There were more than 35 new product launches at the exhibition, and the Association for Laboratory Automation (ALA) awarded its first New Product Award designation to three companies: Corning Inc for its Spie System; Symyx Technologies for its Benchtop Systems; and QIAGEN for the QIAcube.
