Franek Technologies Promotes Raymond L. Hecker to VP, GM
Franek Technologies Inc, Tustin, Calif, has promoted Raymond L. Hecker to vice president and general manager. Hecker will manage all aspects of company operations, with special emphasis on growing the company’s market position as a supplier of laboratory support equipment.
Hecker joined Franek Technologies in 2001 as vice president of business development, responsible for new business development and strategic planning. Prior to this, he served as director of international business development for Amaxis Inc, Quintiles Transnational Corp. Before Amaxis, he served as director of business development and key account sales for Medical Data International, Irvine, Calif. Within the medical device industry, Hecker has also served in leadership positions at Roche/Boehringer Mannheim Corp, Indianapolis, and Nihon Kohden America Inc, Foothill Ranch, Calif. Additionally, he was the manager of international sales and business development for Baxter Healthcare, Deerfield, Ill, in the medical devices and diagnostics sector. Hecker holds an MBA from Pepperdine University, Malibu, Calif, and an aerospace engineering degree with postgraduate work from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign.
Robert Gottlieb Becomes IntegraGen Inc CEO
IntegraGen SA, New York, has appointed Robert Gottlieb its CEO. In addition, Gottlieb—who has been working with IntegraGen for the past 5 months—is vice president, global sales and marketing, for the IntegraGen Group, where he has responsibility for sales and marketing of diagnostic testing and counseling services offered through the company’s Diabetes Competence Center, located in Germany, and the Genetic Research Services business, located in France.
Gottlieb has more than 20 years’ experience in the diagnostics and medical device industry with such firms as Abbott Laboratories, Abbott Park, Ill; General Electric; and Becton Dickinson, Franklin Lakes, NJ. Prior to IntegraGen, he held a variety of director-level positions at Roche Diagnostics, Indianapolis. Gottlieb has a bachelor of arts degree in biology from LaSalle University and an MBA from Temple University, both in Philadelphia.
Samantha Chase Joins Alpha-Tec Systems Inc
Alpha-Tec Systems Inc, a medical device infectious disease diagnostics systems manufacturer, recently signed Samantha Chase as quality assurance and regulatory systems manager. Chase has more than a decade of experience in laboratory analysis, product quality, compliance, and regulatory control; and she will provide guidance to the expansion of international regulations for the company’s new diagnostic technologies.
Chase incorporates her molecular biology and chemistry education and professional regulatory certifications with extensive experience in Phase 1, 2, 3, and commercial product compliance with the FDA’s cGMP’s, international regulations, and compliance audits. Richard Williams, the company’s president and CEO, says Chase’s experience with pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and vaccine production will provide a regulatory foundation for the future growth of Alpha-Tec’s molecular diagnostics.
A graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Chase is certified with the American Society of Quality as a certified quality auditor and is regulatory affairs certified.
Prior to joining Alpha-Tec Systems Inc, she was a lead QA compliance auditor for the Wyeth Stanford Biotechnology & Vaccine facility, located in the Research Triangle area of North Carolina. Before that, she managed the clinical release and stability of pharmaceutical components for Diosynth-RTP Inc, a division of Akzo Nobel Healthcare, and was a quality control analyst for Hoechst Celanese.

Stanbio Laboratory Adds Gilbert Mejia to Management Team
Stanbio Laboratory, Boerne, Tex, announced that Gilbert Mejia has accepted the position of US director of sales.
After earning a bachelor of arts degree in history at the University of Texas, Austin, Mejia attended Officer Candidates School in Quantico, Va, where he received his commission into the US Marine Corps. While on active duty, he earned a master’s degree in management from National University in San Diego.
After completing his tour, Gilbert joined Abbott Laboratories, Abbott Park, Ill, and held sales, marketing, and sales management positions in medical diagnostics and veterinary health. After 9 years with Abbott, Mejia returned to his hometown of Houston to work for Fisher HealthCare as a marketing manager.
